NSF Grant Consultant Position Available

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. We are searching for a person, preferably a Native American scholar, with advanced degrees in education, history or Native American Studies and who has experience in working with Native American youth and/or Native American communities. Desirable applicants will act as consultants to the NSF project team and ensure that project design and content is both culturally relevant and decolonizing.

This project will center on addressing historic and systemic racial inequities through immersing youth in Coeur d’Alene land-based STEM education. Through a four-week summer program, youth will develop deeper relationships with their homeland, through learning the history of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. Understanding how past and current legal and political conflicts impact the health of the people, land and water will raise youth’s critical consciousness and awaken a path to critical action.

Scope of Services:

  • Assist the Director in providing training to the entire Indigenous Summer Youth Internship team on the decolonizing curriculum to include the Department of Education staff, local middle/high school teachers, and college mentors.
  • Assist Project Team in creating a seamless 4-week Indigenous Summer Youth Internship program with land-based experiences and culturally relevant activities
