Coeur Adolescent Support Team

Objective

The objective of the CAST is to provide wrap-around services through the Tribe’s Marimn Health, Department of Education along with other Tribal and non-Tribal partners to promote the well-being and success of adolescents ages 12-17 on the Coeur d’Alene reservation.

Purpose

The CAST serves to inform the development of initial service plans and ongoing updates by identifying resources and connecting adolescents to necessary intervention programs and services using a multidisciplinary approach as follows:

  • Leverage services to help adolescents overcome barriers (e.g.: trauma barriers, substance abuse, etc.);
  • Assist adolescents in acquiring age-appropriate independent living skills;
  • Promote self-determination for adolescents and families;
  • Promote cultural identity as a path to healing;
  • Strengthen relationships across service providers;
  • Identify and recommend resources to fill any gaps in services for adolescents;
  • Develop appropriate placements for adolescents in crisis;
  • Implement protocols for wrap-around services to support adolescents in crisis; and
  • Recommend appropriate Tribal Code revisions that pertain to adolescents in crisis.
