{"id":1007,"date":"2024-08-19T20:37:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T20:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cdatribe-nsn.gov\/sid\/?p=1007"},"modified":"2025-02-07T17:32:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T17:32:52","slug":"comprehensive-tribal-justice-strategic-plan-2016-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cdatribe-nsn.gov\/sid\/2024\/08\/19\/comprehensive-tribal-justice-strategic-plan-2016-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Comprehensive Tribal Justice Strategic Plan 2016-2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In late 2014, the Coeur d\u2019Alene Tribe partnered with the U.S. Department of Justice to develop a Comprehensive Tribal Justice Strategic Plan (CTJSP). The overarching goal of the plan is to bring understanding and awareness of the ruptures that have contributed to substance abuse and crime on the Reservation and to determine what actions are needed to repair, culturally restore, and revitalize the community in order to maximize safety for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Coeur d&#8217;Alene Tribe Community Justice Assessments that were completed in 2015 and 2019 highlighted four areas impacting the health and safety of those living on the reservation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Use and distribution of illegal substances and alcohol<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Victimization<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Juvenile delinquency<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mental health<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These issues continue to affect our community to this day. <strong>Our response to this threat in 2015 was the development of the Comprehensive Tribal Justice Strategic Plan<\/strong>, a seven-year journey that has been long and often times challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By no means do we believe the Plan solved all our problems.<\/strong> But coming together as a community, with a shared vision that all people living on our reservation will have the chance to live life to their full potential, <strong>has made all the difference<\/strong>. We have planted many seeds which have taken root. That is what our ancestors wanted for us, to look for opportunities and to care for our own.
