The general mission of the Coeur d' Alene Tribe Department of Education is to implement
the Tribe's commitment to education which includes the enhancement of the social,
moral, and economic well-being of the Coeur d' Alene Tribe and its membership.

Adult Basic Education
ABE offers tutorial assistance for adults who have their GED or high school diploma
and need skills as they meet the two requirements listed above. Services may include
tutorial assistance, textbooks and materials, and classroom and home study sessions.

Adult Vocational Training
AVT assists enrolled tribal members in obtaining technical certificates and
Associate of Applied Science degrees from approved colleges. Recipients
must be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe and attend classes full- or
part-time. Assistance may include advising, tutoring, tuition, fees,
books, and other supportive services. Coeur d’Alene
Tribal members have preference; however, all are encouraged to apply for
funding. For more information, contact the

Employment Training and Support Services
Employment Training and Support Services assists eligible applicants with upgrading
their job skills. Services may include job search, resume' development and counseling,
tuition assistance, work experience, on-the-job-training, transitional assistance,
and if necessary financial assistance associated with job start-up requirements/barriers
to employment. The main requirements are tribal enrollment, unemployment or underemployment,
meet income guidelines, and resides on, and in some cases within 50 miles of, the

Higher Education
HED can assist eligible students in acquiring a
two or four year degree. Recipients must be tribal members attending
classes at a qualified college either as a part or full time student. Services
may include tuition and fees, books and supplies and other supportive services.
Preference is given to Coeur d’Alene tribal members. For more information
contact the HED Manager or the HED Academic/Tribal Institute Manager.

GED Program
GED assists students in attaining their General Education Development certification
or high school equivalency diploma. Adults ages 18 or older ( and in some cases
16 and 17 year olds ) are eligible for tutorial assistance. Services may include
transportation to and from the N.I.C. testing center, textbooks, and materials,
and classroom and home study sessions. Testing fee assistance may be available for
tribal members living on the reservation. For more information, contact the Adult

Johnson O'Malley Program
JOM offers tutoring and cultural instruction/activities for children enrolled in
the local schools in grades preschool thru 12. For more information, contact the
Student Services Provider of the Programs Assistant.
